Just some guy well known in the mini PC hacking world and on the, for creating terrific updated, optimized, and rooted Android roms.
A rom is a semi static copy of the operating system; typically Android, but as we will see, hopefully, not necessarily. I say 'semi static' because, it persists after power is removed, generally can only be updated by an Android pushed update, and cannot be changed unless the device has been rooted. Updating the rom to finless Bob's 2.1 rom was probably one of the most trying and frustrating things I've done, and admittedly, it was all my fault. The finless bob rom pack contains everything you need, along with a read me file named README FIRST.TXT. First off, you really do need to read this before you do anything, and, if you don't want to get frustrated like me, follow them. The instructions can be divided into three steps; • putting the mk808 into ROM flash mode [there are 3 ways to do this] • installing the flash mode drivers. • flashing the mk808 device Step one - putting the mk808 into ROM flash mode As finless bob explains, to do anything, you must FIRST put the mk808 into ROM flash mode.
This can be done in three ways; A: 1] Remove any SDcard from the mk808 2] power up the mk808, go into settings and make sure that a) USB storage is turned ON b) Under developer options, USB debugging is turned OFF. You can power off the mk808. Now; 3] Connect the supplied USB cable from the mk808's OTG port to your PC. It will power up and windows may detect the device. 4] In the ROM kit run the ROM FLash Tool.exe.
5] You should see at the bottom it say 'Found RKAndroid Mass Storage USB' 6] In the flash tool click the 'Reboot to Flash Mode' button. 7] Wait up to at least 10 seconds. The unit should reboot and the screen for the mk808 will be black (no ouptut). You are now in flash mode! If this doesn't work, try; B: In the ROM kit is another folder called alternate_reboot_to_flash_tool. This is the RKBatch tool.
Run this tool and the 1 box should be pink. If it is not pink, again, power up the mk808, go into settings and make sure that; a) USB storage is turned ON b) Under developer options, USB debugging is turned OFF.
Once you have a pink box, Click the 'switch' button at the bottom and this should put it into flash mode. Close this RKBtach tool now. If this doesn't work, then try; C: 1] Be ready to connect the supplied USB cable from the mk808's OTG port to your PC, but DO NOT CONNECT IT YET. Leave the USB cable unplugged.
2] Near the HDMI port on the mk808 are 2 holes. One is a blue LED, while the other is a reset button. Use a paper clip or something similar to push the reset button in this hole. You will feel the button 'click' when you have pushed it correctly. 3] While holding this button down, plug the USB cable from the PC to the OTG port on the mk808.
4] You should hear windows BONG as it finds new device. Continue holding the reset button down for about 10 seconds. 5] If the blue LED did not light you are now in ROM flash mode. Step two - installing the flash mode drivers 1] With the mk808 in ROM flash mode, Windows will now have a new unknown device. 2) Open control panel then device manager. You should see a device listed as unknown with a yellow symbol in it. 3] RIGHT click on it and select 'Update Driver'.
Yaaron Dosti Mp3 Download Mp3hungama Com. 4] Browse for the driver to where you unzipped the rom package and click on the driver folder. 5] click on your OS version, e.g.
Win7, etc., and then on the folder for 32bit or 64bit depending on your OS. How To Install Efashion Universe Images. 6] At this point the drivers should install.
If not start over. 7] Now, no matter what, unplug the mk808, and reboot the PC. Once the PC is back up plug in the mk808 and repeat the steps for getting into flash mode! Now, if you did everything correctly, when you go into flash mode (blank screen), the PC FLash tool should now say 'Found RKAndroid Loader Rock Usb' at the bottom, not 'Found RKAndroid Mass Storage USB'. If it doesn't, try installing the drivers again. Step three - flashing the mk808 device OK so you've got the mk808 in flash mode AND you got the drivers installed.
And, at the bottom of the flash tool it says 'Found RKAndroid Loader Rock Usb'. We are ready! To flash the ROM: 1] DO NOT UNCHECK OR CHECK ANY OF THE BOXES IN THE ROM TOOL WINDOW! 2] In the flash tool select 'Erase NAND (IDB)'. Let it finish. 3] Press the 'Flash ROM' button.
It will take several minutes to do it's thing. Watch for errors! If you see errors, try; erasing nand flashing loader, parameter, misc.img, boot.img, and system.img. When finished do kernel.img, then recovery.img [you may need to do kernel.img, and recovery.img together] After flashing, and with no errors, the mk808 will reboot and you will have the new finless bob rom installed!
