Kel Tec Ksg Serial Number Location

From my personal experience although the tubes are supposed to fit 7 on each side (2 3 4) I can only manage 6 per side. The loading of the gun seems to be a bit of a challenge and I'd imagine under stress it'd be even harder. At times it takes 4-5 attempts to load one shell. Seems like the angle you insert the round has to ne just prrfect. Once you have the gun loaded and are cycling the action you have to really slam it back for the next she'll to feed. To me it seems like you should have a back up (pistol) if you plan on using it for home defense. Maybe mine is still new and it has a break in period?

Serial Number: XCU56 See photos for details, Condition 80%. Call of Duty: Black Ops II (also known as CoD:Blops 2) is the ninth installment in the Call of Duty series, and the third main entry in the Black Ops sub-franchise.

I've only put about 100 shells through it. As far as recoil I've shot 00buck and slugs and although it has some punch I find it manageable. I'm 6-00 250 though.

Reloading is a PITA, as more politely stated above. No easy combat reloading on this bullpup design either.

Probably a good thing that it holds 14 (or so) rounds. It comes with no sights or front post. Granted we all have parts laying around ( I mounted Magpul sights) but for the money KelTec failed here IMO.

Ejection is downward onto my wrist which doesn't hurt but is annoying. I don't see how to avoid this. In loading one into the chamber I kept ramming the rear of the fore-end into my right thumb. A training/acclimation issue for sure. But when I add in the other above issues I couldn't see investing more time with this shotgun. I have allot more time behind my 870 so, the KSG was sold.

I bought it because I think a shorter shotgun that you can shoulder is a nice option. I'm not a fan of a pistol grip shotgun but I'd rather run a PG equipped 870 (or similar) than a KSG. Have over 1k rounds through my gen 2 with no issues (buck and slug) Random points: Get metal mag followers Get extended mag switch Always start with right tube, flip to left tube when empty. This js because for me, a combat reload is much faster using right tube. If you are faster the opposite way, fine just keep ypur starting tube consistent I run a low mount primary arms red dot on mine. I took off my aimpoint h1 as I figured it is a shotgun and i could use the primary arms as a ghost ring if it went down. That said it is still holding zero and working after over 1k rounds. Amazing red dot.

It lives on a low adm mount (also amazing) Rack it hard and you won't have issues. I'd rather run a KSG in its bullpup configuration than my Mossberg 500s. Shorter, compact, 14 rounds of firepower makes it my choice. Loaded with slugs, the KSG is a deer rifle. I like that it can be transported in a short zippered case. If you need more than 14 rounds to get thru a situation, you have more problems than reloading speed. Reach down for your Glock.haha Prices have come down to about 800 to 900 bucks if you shop around. Not much more than a medium priced handgun.worse thing is I sell it and recoup most of my money.

1587 A Year Of No Significance Mobi here. I run an EoTech that I can move to one of my Rifles if desired. I guess it depends on what you want in a pump shotgun.

I would avoid a vertical grip. I went with what you see. The action is very smooth by the way.

Today's models have all of the improvements and upgrades. Mine is black, I couldn't find a TAN model.

Tan and OD green cost more.of course. Random thoughts: Recoil is stout with buck & slugs, but equal to any other pump IMHO. Its a 'working gun' so dont baby her when you rack it.

Pump it like you mean it! (thats what she said.) It will prob need a few hundred rounds to break in & smooth out. Empty shells bouncing off the wrist is a little annoying while shooting paper but while 'running & gunning' I dont notice. They are combat shotguns, they are NOT finely tuned Italian 12 gauge works of art. Initial impressions were that it 'felt cheap' cuz of the plastic/polymer, but I thought that of Glocks at first also. I think of the KSG as an 8 shot mossberg that reloads with the flick of a switch. The bullpup design is awesome and I expect to see Mossberg, Winchester, Remington.

Etc come out with their own 15 shot 12 gauge in the coming years. Several Deputies in my dept have purchased these with the Keltec Officer buying program. Zero of us dislike the KSG. If you understand what the gun is designed for (urban combat) it fits this niche pretty good. Random thoughts: Recoil is stout with buck & slugs, but equal to any other pump IMHO.

Zero of us dislike the KSG. If you understand what the gun is designed for (urban combat) it fits this niche pretty good. This is sound advice, thank you for your insight. I have trolled the errornet high and low and have found 2 camps of people.the ones that know what they are getting themselves into and keep their heads up and those that were expecting something else and walk around with thier heads hanging while kicking rocks. I would love to take one of these off anyones hands who does not want it.your loss is my gain:)!! I bought a KSG recently but haven't shot it yet.

Too busy with other things, but OP you might find my thoughts on buying accessories for it of interest. My KSG came w/a front Magpul sight installed by the dealer. I added a rear one to match. Don't plan to add a red dot or other optic to this shotgun because IMO it's just a close quarters point and shoot device where lighting will not be an issue.

I also added a Magpul vertical foregrip. I prefer the vertical grip to the angled grip because it 'feels' better to me. The angled foregrip requires me to bend and twist my wrist which is awkward and uncomfortable; not so the vertical grip. Also added a Button Sling single point sling mount (which I can use w/a Condor 2 to 1 point convertible sling) and have a Kydex Cheek Plate cover on order. Don't like the look of the slip-on recoil pads; proper shooting technique should negate the need for one.

If not, a PAST or recoil pad worn on your shoulder (rather than slipped onto the KSG) should suffice. Will probably buy the Hi-Tech muzzle brake and tube selector switch, as well as SMT Tactical steel followers but will wait until I actually shoot the gun before buying them. Lastly, if you're looking for a case for your KSG, there are inexpensive bullpup cases (28'x 10 or12') out there that cost only $20-30. So, you don't have spend more for a 'tactical' one. How are the factory magazine springs?

Good quality to keep the weapon loaded for extended periods? All 3 of my mossberg mag springs have been junk out of the box and needed replacing so now I'm leery thanks to them. I don't see any nice quality aftermarket springs listed yet anywhere for the ksg. I would assume the springs should all be the same, you would just need to modify length more than anything. I know on some of my 870s I had to trim the springs that I got for the extended tubes. After that, no problems since. I can't speak for the factory springs, but it's a good question, as I plan to leave it loaded for a longer amount of time.

Becker Traffic Pro High Speed Update For Imac. Amazing red dot. It lives on a low adm mount (also amazing) Rack it hard and you won't have issues Generation 2 & 3 are smooth shooting & problem free!!! Youtube guys are over 2000 rounds as of last month!!! Sent from my SM-G386T1 using Tapatalk.

I recently purchased a KSG as well. I got the recommended followers, has anyone installed them before? KTOG is the best place for this, (everything you need to know.

I linked you to just 1 of the good topics on doing this. Another (Here is my KSG on Calguns (Only thing I have left to do is SMT Followers. I have a gen 3 KSG and it keeps jamming when I try to rack it after a shot. Is it a breaking in issue? I've shot about 80 rounds so far. I love the way it's configured and I would really like to keep it but the jamming issue is a deal killer if I can't get resolved.

Anyone with a similar issue? This should not happen/not normal.

I have read about it several times at KTOG. Here is 1 thread on it (I have read bad extractor from factory and load type. Zombiescanlearn- Is your pump jamming all the way back? My friend's did this- what was happening was the hammer was getting caught in one of the holes on the sliding piece.

My fix was to file a round curve on the edge that was catching. While in there, I did a full polish and buff too. Pumps almost as slick as my Mossberg. There's also a plastic nub on the grip frame (plastic) which jams against the pump handle. When you file that down it also becomes smoother.

Can you do the same to my keltec ksg too? Yours truly, repo4sale Sent from my SM-G386T1 using Tapatalk.

No, mine is jamming when I am trying to dislodge the spent shell. Zombiescanlearn- Is your pump jamming all the way back? I picked up my KSG, and the mag tubes were filled with grease. It looked like the oil that drips out of a Taco Bell taco in terms of color and was super thick. It was hard to load dummy rounds into the tubes, so I decided not to wait to change out the followers. Field strip the shotgun, remove the mag tubes with a big washer. Then use the same big washer and twist off the caps on the mag tubes. No special tool needed, no heat necessary, just a strong grip.

Took all of two minutes to get it apart. Took another 20 minutes to clean it all out. Installed a Magpul VFG on as well to help rack shotguns. Wondering if I need to get a metal rail now.

DO get metal rail! If the plastic rail breaks at the VFG, you will shoot your hand off.

The dark red/brown grease is standard for KSG. When you clean the tubes, before assembly use dry lubricant. The tube caps sometimes will need heat and/or special wrench. Metal followers are not a bad idea I just ordered it. The more I think about it, the more it makes sense.

I used dry lube on the followers and no oil on the tubes. I oiled the action/bolt and wiped everything else up with some light solvent and then dry clothes. My caps were tight, but didn't need heat or wrench, piece of cake! I have 500 rounds through my keltec buck and slug. Just took a tactical shotgun class through Gray Ops firearms training was hitting 12' steel plates @ 50 yards with slugs. I have the extended selector, muzzle brake and SS flowers. I recommend a pacmayor but pad.

Here is a quick video of the class. At the end of the class the instructor asked me and the other keltec guy to put all 14 rnds on target as fast as possible. Headed over to Reeds today to shoot my new KSG for the 1st time. Don't know what Gen it is but I bought it last month and it's one of the latest KSGs recently produced. The SN is between 64,300 and 64,399.

I was a little worried because of horror story reports from early adopters whose KSG's broke the 1st time they shot them, but my KSG performed flawlessly. Shot it wearing 5.11 shooting gloves (which helped w/grip and feel) and using just the front Magpul sight. Ran 10 rounds of 1oz #8 birdshot at 10 yards just to pattern and get a feel for it.

Then shot 5 rounds of #1 buck magnums, 50 rounds of 00 buck and 15 rounds of high velocity slugs through it in various combos mounted at the shoulder and from the hip at various distances from 5 to 25 yards. NO problems whatsoever w/the gun, which was very accurate out to 25 yards just using the front fixed sight. The addition of Kydex cheek plate was also useful in this regard because I really had to tilt my head down to lower it to the level of the top of the barrel in order to properly sight it and the feel of Kydex was probably better than bare metal would be.

I was also happy w/the addition of the vertical Magpul grip mounted on the foregrip. I have mine mounted at the very end of the lower picatinny rail and did not notice any weakness in the mount in this position nor did I have any short stroke problems. The foregrip racked so smoothly that I doubt there was very little, if any, strain transmitted from the handle to the lower rail. So, I don't think that the lower picatinny rail needs to be strengthened w/the addition of an additional metal rail. Spent the time just getting acquainted w/the gun and its peculiarities.

I found that it was very easy to lose track of how many rounds I had shot off from a tube and occasionally ended up firing on an empty chamber before switching tubes and/ or reloading. I also had to remember to re-rack the gun, after switching tubes, in order to load a shell into the chamber from the newly selected tube but that was easier to remember than the count of rounds fired before a tube switch was required. I also found that the easiest way to reload the tubes was to tilt the gun slightly from vertical (either left or right), which allowed the shells to rest against that side, and when I pushed the shell up to the top to the ejection chamber, it would flow directly into the appropriate mag tube w/o looking. I also noticed that the mag tube selector lever was just a bit too short to use w/o looking, so I'll definitely be buying one of the aftermarket tube selector levers. The KSG definitely kicks hard and my shoulder was a little sore after 80 rounds in just under an hour. Nice write up ^.

There's a way to decipher when and what number your gun is made. I suck at math so I got no clue. Here's the thread: They have making the updated 'gen 2' for awhile so anything purchased recently will be the most current run im guessing. Here's some parts I've been eying. Not sure what to choose from. Carolina metal masters has a nice mag switch.

Hi-tec customs has a new one that's similar but doesn't have some upgraded detent ball that cmm offers. Smt tactical has some good priced items like followers and tools as well. I'm still trying to decide what the best stuff to go with is. I want: followers, magazine switch, side saddle, sights (magpul seems most popular for flip up?) and some sorta hand stop. The KSG definitely kicks hard and my shoulder was a little sore after 80 rounds in just under an hour. The 1300 fps 00 buck/#8 birdshot rounds (and even the 1200 fps #1 buck magnum rounds) were fine but I definitely didn't want to shoot off any more than the 15 rounds of 1600 fps high velocity Federal rifled slugs that I shot through it today -- at least not at the shoulder. This honestly hasn't been an issue for us (mostly gurls) because for whatever reason most of the slugs we shoot are law enforcement rounds. Get yourself some of those Federal LE slugs and you can shoot your KSG all day long.

Even little Mexican gurls do it: (Every once in a while we load some full-power buck or slugs in the KSG, and, whoa, there's a big difference. After that we rummage around in the boxes looking for more of the LE stuff. Im glad to see many with handstops at minimum i would put one of these on the front of the rail... Its such cheap insurance Interesting. I bought the Button Sling single point hook pin (for my KSG but, since I hate the stock sling slots on the KSG, I may buy this picatinny hook mount if ever want to go to a 2 point sling attachment.
