Bent Fabric Jukebox Rarest

• From 1947 to 1949, Abbotwares of Los Angeles produced ten different varieties of an Art Deco, horse-themed radio. They are quite rare and very hard to find in such pristine condition. It still has the original patina, dark brown and copper just like the factory produced them. So many of these radios have had the patina polished away, missing the reins or the saddle.

Blake has replaced all of the paper capacitors, tested and replaced bad resistors and checked all of the tubes. He performed a proper alignment, making this little five-tube, AM only radio play like new. A very cool gift for that horse lover, or man cave.

13-3/4'H x 12-1/4'W x 5-1/4'D. (1600044) • Here is another one of a kind radio design! This Abbotwares 'Horse with Saddle' is seldom seen, and when found is usually missing its saddle.

I've seen five or six in my 40+ years of collecting, and this is the only one I've owned. It came from the estate of a Doctor in Auburn, Maine, who collected only the best of each radio. This is easily the best I've seen. The electrolytic capacitors were recently replaced by my Tech Friend Tom, and he put an on/off switch on the cord as the one on the volume control was not working.

The radio plays well. 14'H x 11-1/2'W x 4-1/2'D. (1620013) • Written by Allan Lytel. A Thomas Sams Photofact publication, first edition, first printing 1963.

This book explains the uses of Lasers and Masers and their applications. Masers in their fundamental action are completely different then vacuum tubes or transistors, while electronics abound with many new techniques and applications, most of these are modifications of pre-existing knowledge and do not represent revolutionary ideas. The Maser is an entirely new concept.

Noise-Free amplifiers and ultra-stable signal sources are just two Maser applications. A special type of Maser, called the Laser, is a light amplifier and source of coherent light; it is a spectacular by product and the first ever produced by man. (3020729) • By IPC-A-600A, Institute Of Printed Circuits September 1970 (Revised).

This publication is a compilation of visual Quality Acceptability Guidelines for Printed Wiring Boards prepared by the Reparability and Acceptability Committee of Institute of Printed Circuits. The pictures in this guide were made to portray certain specific points noted in the title of each page withe a brief description adjacent to each picture. 78 page plastic spiral bound book in good condition. (3020728) • This set plays broadcast (AM) and Police band.

Very attractive lighted dial. (0380419) • ON SALE!

Collectors associate Addison with the stunning line of highly prized and expensive Catalin radios produced by this Canadian maker. This seldom found plastic model is cute as a button with a crisp dial and gorgeous marbleized knobs. It's also rather unique because the entire cabinet is a single molded piece sitting on top of the metal chassis. That allowed the designers to carve a convenient carry handle into the back and eliminate the usual flimsy cardboard back.

Oddly, this radio has no dial lamp for illuminating the dial at nighttime. This radio weighs 6 pounds and measures 10-3/4'W x 6-3/4'H x 8'D.Was $189.00, now $175.00. (1340082) • This is a nice 1953 Admiral Bakelite radio that is all original. The chassis has been gone through.

When turned on it plays and sounds good. No cracks or scratches. Please look at the photo, email me with any questions. 11'W x 6-1/2'H x 5-1/4'D. (1520052) • Uniquely restored Admiral from 1940. Its five-tube chassis has had all wax/paper capacitors replaced, tubes and resistors checked and alignment peaked. The Deco styled Bakelite cabinet has been repainted in a three-tone polished lacquer.

There have been crack repairs to the bottom and top of cabinet. The red paint appears to have an orange tone in the pictures. Plays well with its internal loop antenna. 10'W x 7'H x 6'D. (1550052) • SOLD! Radio has no cracks or chips or hairlines. It's very clean all over.

The inside shows some green corrosion on contacts but contacts are okay. The radio works with good volume but it's very touchy. So, it is a rare set that looks great but could use some contact cleaner in the right place to perform like it should. (1430229) • This Model & Chassis index #S1201 covers all Admiral Radio and phonograph model chassis prefixed by the letter 'Y' that were introduced during the years 1959 to July 1967. (3020661) • I don't know why they put an antenna on this as it has the typical ferrite antenna inside. Regardless, it's unusual. Radio picks up static but that's all.

It's really clean with no cracks or chips or hairlines. Grille has a super hard to notice dimple but it's almost not worth mentioning to be honest. (1430165) • This is a very basic, but clean example from the early 1960s. Bottom label is missing, so determining the model number required some research. One tiny chip can be seen in the photos.

A four-tube superheterodyne, it has reasonable sensitivity, and would be a perfect ballgame or news/talk radio for a kitchen, workshop, or garage. The four-tube design might have only marginal performance in a basement unless you are in an area with good signal strength.

There is no provision for an external antenna. It has been fully serviced (new capacitors, resistors checked, tubes tested and replaced as necessary, and aligned). (1530010) • ON SALE! Original finish.

Color is actually pale pink. No scratches or cracks.

Marks on the gold area on top are part of the design (not scratches). Electronics restored (filter caps replaced). AC plug marked for polarized input.

Reception is good. Was $80.00, now $70.00. (1540054) • ON SALE! This is the high quality Advent FM radio with extension speaker. This is a great sounding compact 70's radio.

It's super clean and ready to display and play. Please add $38 for domestic shipping. Was $179.00, now $129.00.

(1440200) • SOLD! Aetna Radio, the 'in-house' brand for Walgreens Drug Stores during the 1930's, was obviously a Detrola designed cabinet and chassis.

Many retailers turned to companies such as Detrola, to produce private branded radios for their own stores. The multicolored backlit dial, with the airplane style pointer, is amazingly beautiful in a dimly lit room--stunning graphics! This lovely cabinet has been refinished using the very finest grain fillers, toning and finishing lacquers, producing a gorgeous finish.

The electronics have been completely restored (no shortcut repairs and it is internally fused for your safety), and it plays very nicely on the AM and shortwave bands. I've added an MP3 input for your listening enjoyment should you wish listen to your own supplied music.

14-1/2'W x 11'H x 8'D. (1390200) • I doubt you'll ever find another example of this exceptionally rare Aircastle radio sold by mail order from Spiegel's catalogs. It's a phenomenal 'mini' radio without any cracks, chips or other flaws.

The cabinet retains the original ivory luster seldom seen in radios over 70 years old. The teeny dial has a fascinating gold reptilian appearance. The cardboard back is present and in very nice shape. I purchased this little jewel from the famous Radiophile collection.

It plays great and will be a incredible addition to any radio collection. It weighs 3 pounds; 7'W x 5'H x 4-3/4'D.

(1340154) • Five-tube AM radio from 1940. Cabinet on this very small radio is in excellent condition. Dial scale has been replaced along with capacitors, weak tubes and the power cord. 8'W x 5-1/2'H x 4-1/2'D.

(0390274) • I am offering for sale this rarely seen ivory colored Airline radio. The Airline brand was Montgomery Ward's exclusive line of radios. Employing the top 'modern' designers of the day, Airline radios were known for their unique designs and high quality construction.

This original finish ivory white, Bakelite tabletop is chock full of charming appeal. It is hard to find an example of this radio in such nice original condition. Furnished with ultra-modern preset buttons, this little chump featured cutting edge technology (for 1939).

This well designed radio has a big sound in a small package. With the flip of a switch you can enjoy the unmistakable warm rich audio that only tube technology can deliver. The back of the radio is as I have had it for many years in my collection. Reproduction backs are available online. This five-tube AM radio has had all period capacitors replaced, all tubes checked and replaced.

All controls have been cleaned and lubed to operate as new and a new cord has been added. Comes with a one-year warranty on the electrical restoration.

10'W x 7'H x 6'D. (0150234) • 1940 Montgomery Wards two-band Airline radio with push button tuning. The chassis has been restored with new capacitors, tubes and resistors checked and alignment set for peak performance.

The polished Bakelite cabinet has a nice swirl pattern which doesn't show well in the pictures. Plays well on both AM and shortwave bands with internal loop antenna or long wire attached. 14'W x 8'H x 8'D. (1550046) • ON SALE! This beautiful Montgomery Wards Airline radio has a very stylish and glossy brown Bakelite finish with an amazing gold dial.

The chassis has been properly restored with a new power cord. It plays just as great as it looks. This radio weighs 6 pounds and measures 10-1/2'W x 7'H x 6-1/4'D.Was $189.00, now $175.00. (1340083) • ON SALE! This Airline from the 1940's is super clean and plays great. It almost looks like new! Very stylish post-War radio made for Montgomery Wards.

A lot of these were sold in the suburbs of the Northeast. Add $28 for domestic shipping. Was $179.00, now $99.00. (1440164) • This vintage Airline model is a bit unusual and rare, for I haven't seen this model before and I have been in the radio business for quite a long time. I have completely restored it, replacing all of the older paper and wax type capacitors with newer longer lasting ones. Also replaced the old style electrolytic capacitors which cause that hum that you hear in older radios when they go bad. All the tubes have been checked on my tester and I have replaced any of the bad ones with new, all circuits checked and working properly now and the radio sounds as nice as it looks.

10-3/4'W x 7'H x 7-3/4'D. (0021380) • This cabinet is loaded with lots of burled walnut veneers. There are separate dial windows for tone and volume, plus it has a tuning strength indicator window at the top. The sound from this baby's Jensen speaker is awesome! Strong and clean. Doors close to protect to the dial and grille area. (0380484) • This beautiful radio was made for Wards Airline by Wells-Gardner & Company of Chicago.

Wards used Belmont and Wells-Gardner to produce their pre-War radios under contract to become one of the most prolific mail order catalogue sellers of the time. This powerful ten-tube, two-band console (SB and police) is quite rare; this is the first one I have seen. Blake did a terrific job of restoring the electronics to perform like new. The capacitors were replaced and the resistors and tubes were tested and replaced as needed. The radio was aligned and performs quite well across the dial.

The Art Deco cabinet is made of English Walnut, Maple, Ebony and painted Maple. A fantastic refinish by Gary Marvin using grain filler, toner and lacquer to give it a professional long lasting finish. An input has been added so you may add music from your own device. Add $150 for professional packing and shipping to your nearest Greyhound Depot. 40'H x 24' W x 13'D. (1600029) • You are looking at a massively sized table radio. The factory was Wells-Gardner, who made terrific radios, and this was made exclusively for Montgomery Wards.

The radio is a sophisticated eight-tube super-het that plays on AM and SW. There are quite a number of deluxe features to detail. Note the tone controls and the highly detailed multi-colored dial which measure a huge 9 inches. The radio sports a brand new eye tube, which winks with great sensitivity as you tune from station to station. Les has done his completely professional repairs and between the highly sophisticated engineering and the massively sized cabinet, the radios sings like few others. The cabinet retains the original finish, very acceptable with only a subtle blemish on the top right side near the back (see photo). Built on a chrome chassis, with some accumulation of tarnish this is one of the finest playing table radios you could wish to own.

This set because of size and weight is going to cost more in shipping. The scale of this radio makes it ideal for the installed mini-jack and as with all of my radios Bluetooth is available for $25. 23'W x 15-1/4'H x 11'D. (0961303) • Beautiful black Bakelite AM radio from 1937. The cabinet is in wonderful condition with no chips or cracks. Chassis has been serviced and plays well across the entire dial.

The tuning eye has been replaced and is very strong. 13'W x 8-1/2'H x 7-1/4'D.

(0390329) • Up for sale today we have a really nice six-tube, three-band (SB, SWx2) radio sold at Montgomery Ward stores under the Airline name. The waterfall cabinet with beautiful walnut veneer and multi-colored, oval dial is a great collector piece. Gary did a fantastic job refinishing this beauty with a nice lacquer finish. Joe went through the chassis replacing all of the capacitors, resistors and tubes where needed and aligned the radio for peak performance. This radio plays strong. I had it on the bench after the alignment and it was picking up stations without an antenna hooked up.

(1600054) • Here's another superb set I purchased directly from the owner of the Radiophile collection (Google 'Radiophile plastic radios' to see more). The finish is amazing and even the original labels are intact on the bottom on the cabinet. There are no cracks in Plaskon cabinet, which is exceptionally rare. The shape of the dial and the grille bars are iconic styles of the period. This little cutie plays wonderfully because it's had an excellent restoration by the Radiophile master himself. This is an investment grade radio that you'll be proud to display and use.

This radio weighs 5 pounds; 9'W x 6-3/4'H x 5-1/4'D. (1340137) • ON SALE! This Deco Airline radio is in excellent condition with no cracks or chips. It has been serviced, tubes and caps replaced as needed. It plays very loud and clear.

The eye tube is bright and the dial has a pleasing red glow. Add $38 for domestic shipping. Was $229.00, now $149.00.

(1440175) • 'Indian head' Montgomery Wards Airline from 1937. The cabinet has been refinished using toners and a semi-gloss lacquer. The chassis plays well with fresh capacitors, checked resistors, alignment and a replacement power transformer sometime in its past. Needs a long wire antenna for reception. Only 11'W x 7'H x 6'D. (1550044) • No dial-face, just push-buttons, make this Bakelite radio from the golden age look very deco!

The grille slots wrap around two sides and the dial position is read from the tuning knob on the other. The mechanical type push-buttons are set by loosening the screw on that knob. The radio has no back, but the case is nearly flawless, with no cracks or chips, and the five tube superhet chassis has been serviced and plays well. (0610042) • A petite, brown with red marbling, Bakelite cased radio with superb AM reception using the wire antenna, attached, and the five-tube circuit. The dial is crystal clear and not lighted.

Fully restored for safe, reliable use. All paper capacitors and electrolytic capacitors have been replaced with high quality modern replacements. Tubes replaced as needed as well as any other defective parts.

Please review my testimonials page to get an idea of the quality restorations I do. 8'W x 6'H x 5'D. (1090676) • A rare offering is this Montgomery Wards Airline radio of 1946.

(1090678) • Airline radios were the house brand label for the famed Chicago retailer and catalogue of Montgomery Wards.

They bought a wide selection of radios from dozens of factories. Like most retailers, they offered a wide range of price points and different qualities. This model was made for them by Colonial Radio. Colonial was considered a premium factory in the early 1930s.

The radio before you is a early five-tube super-het that offers Broadcast only. The cabinet has been nicely refinished and the speaker cloth is an exact reproduction of the original. Note the ornate metal inset knobs, a striking addition to the classic good looks. Les has completed his highly professional repairs and the radio is a terrific player. Les has added a mini-jack so you can input any modern device. Enjoy listening to content from your phone, pad or computer and enjoy an unlimited choice of content.

Email me with any questions. 13'W x 8-1/4'H x 7'D. (1520057) • You are looking at a terrific table radio. Manufactured by Detrola Radio from Detroit, Michigan, these were very well engineered radios.

This radio was available under several names, but the Air Castle name was the house brand of Spiegel Catalogue Company. The six-tube super-het chassis plays well on both AM and Shortwave.

Note the massively oversized dial with is brightly backlit. The new green tuning eye winks with great sensitivity as you dial station to station.

The cabinet is a very fine refinish, with a fine factory like luster. The speaker cloth and knobs appear to be factory original. The fine American walnut is dramatic in its pattern. Les has done his usual and professional repairs and the radio plays in a fine fashion. Les has added a mini-jack to the circuit and you can choose your modern input device to the radio.

Listen to your phone, pad or computer for the infinite amount of free content available. Bluetooth is available for an additional $25. 18'W x 10'H x 8'D. (0961384) • Air Castle was the house brand for the famous Chicago based Spiegel catalog company. They were not a maker, but designed and contracted their products from some of the better factories and contract manufacturers.

This happens to be a very rare radio. The radio is never found and very seldom seen. Note the name came from the highly deco cut out grille. The radio is subtly shaped in a slightly curved cabinet. The condition is outstanding with a terrific factory finish, and all of the factory installed parts.

You will be delighted with the originality and performance from the six-tube super-het chassis. I bought this at auction out of the famous Mark Stein collection.

In forty five years of active collecting, I had never seen another available to own. My technician has done all of the repairs necessary and the radio is a real performer. If you collect deco radios, in fine original condition, you would be hard pressed to find a better set to add to your collection. 16-1/4'H x 13'W x 9'D.

(0961008) • With nearly fifty years of collecting, simply there are radios I have only seen in books. Before you are one of them, as it is so scarce I have seen only this one. Air Castle was the house brand for Spiegel Catalogue Company and Macy's Department Stores.

The radio is so distinctive with the dramatic tulip shaped grille and it has a motor drive allowing the preset of your favorite channels with a push of the button change. The radio is a six-tube model playing on both AM and Shortwave. The cabinet was refinished by a previous owner and the speaker cloth is an accurate replacement.

The balance of the radio is factory original. Les has completed his professional repairs and the radio is a fine player. Made for Spiegel by the famed RPC factory from Chicago, the electronics are first class. The motor works great and the radio is like it left the factory.

Les added a mini-jack for your input of any modern device or add a Bluetooth receiver for only $25. Rare, rare, rare! 17-5/8'W x 9-3/4'H x 9-1/2'D. (0961364) • Completely rebuilt chassis. This is a broadcast and shortwave set that plays nicely.

Good solid cabinet. (0380264) • Here's a nice, substantial table radio from Aiwa that features AM/FM and a sturdy chrome top handle.

It's a twelve-transistor model meant for everyday use. This radio plays well with four 'C' cell batteries. It also includes the original box and Styrofoam insert. The box is worn and tattered but it's certainly better than having no display box! It has a straight telescoping antenna, which swivels at the base.

The first rod of the antenna is present but detached. However, the antenna can still be used and is not bent. Cosmetically this radio is in very nice condition. There are no cracks, chips or dents. It weighs 5 pounds; 9-1/4'W x 7-1/4'H x 2-3/4'D. (1340155) • Complete instructions on the operation and maintenance of the AKAI DeLuxe reel to reel tape recorder.

With schematic. (3020701) • This is another rare version of the popular 60s Japanese midgets. Five tubes; inspected, new AC cord, other was brittle. Very small dent front bottom of plastic chrome and small hairline bottom right corner (almost undiscernible). Plays very well; a neat seldom seen version. 6-1/4'W x 4-1/4'H x 4'D.

(0080107) • ON SALE! Long before the Internet, companies like Sears, Montgomery Wards and Aldens thrived by selling products from their giant catalogs. And, just like Sears and Wards, Aldens contracted with radio manufacturers to create their own private branded radios.

The stepped cabinet design on this radio is very unique and eye pleasing. It still has the high gloss finish desired by all collectors. I purchased stunning little gem directly from the owner of the famous Radiophile collection (Google 'Radiophile antique radios' to read more). This radio plays very well because it was restored by the Radiophile master himself. This radio weighs 5 pounds and measures 10'W x 6-1/4'H x 5-1/2'D.Was $209.00, now $199.00. Each band in its dial is color coded to match the band switch position. The chassis is broken up into two parts to isolate noise from the power supply. The lower section is for audio and power and the upper section for radio circuits. It produces a big sound because it puts out 20 watts of sound through the 14-inch speaker.

This is one of the best sounding radios we've heard. The cabinet features light and dark contrasted veneers and a detailed inlay at the top. The recessed speaker grille provides interest to the look. Very heavy; local pick up in the Washington/Oregon area advised. Was $1,800.00, now $1,440.00. (1410038) • Original cabinet finish with dings and scratches, mostly on top.

The refinished cabinet is in superb condition with original grille cloth and knobs. The chassis is unusually clean, with good original nickel plating throughout. Owning a radio like this in 1933 would have been a real treat -- radio technology was changing rapidly, and this radio is among the earliest to include all of the improvements that define a 'modern' radio, including a superheterodyne architecture for excellent sensitivity and selectivity, an automatic volume control to equalize the volume of strong vs weak stations, a good-sounding electrodynamic speaker with cloth surround, and a vacuum tube diode detector for low distortion. Restoration included replacement of all electrolytic, paper, and mica capacitors, new resistors where needed, replacement of deteriorated wiring (including the main power transformer leads), a full RF and IF alignment, a strong set of tubes, installation of a fuse (for improved safety), and a new vintage-style power cord and plug. Atwater Kent first designed ignition systems in 1907 for early automobiles. With the success of that endeavor he opened his first Pennsylvania radio factory in 1921. He produced a very high quality product and his company's reputation was very important to him, referred to as the 'Cadillac of Radios.' He chose to close down production and retire in 1936 rather than produce a cheaper radio of lesser quality to compete in the market of that day. This five-tube, two-band radio (SB, police) has a great Art Deco design. The walnut veneers are separated with brass strips that accentuate the linear look of this radio.

This radio has an older electronic restoration and plays well across the dial. The cabinet, knobs and grille cloth are all original. Please allow $38 for packing and shipping. (1600037) • SOLD!

Powered from the receiver, the Five Lamper only required connection to an electrical outlet to play. This radio was also the first unit to be encased in a walnut cabinet. In January, 1945, the Germans bombed B&O's factory, since both B&O refused to collaborate and its employees were suspected Danish Resistance members. In the 1950s, B&O, assisted by Denmark's renowned architects and designers, developed components that earned praise for aesthetic appeal. They were rewarded in 1978 when NY's Museum of Modern Art arranged a 39-piece exhibition of B&O's products, an honor only bestowed on three other companies during the 20th century.

Our model has five tubes, AM, LW, + two SW Bands, but no FM. Richard repaired one 1N4007 rectifier, one AC power plug, re-wired 220VAC to 120VAC, and aligned IF and RF.

The cabinet was repaired. (1300085) • Very well made Barrel radio, looks like the old tube type version but its littler cousin. Only ID is all transistor AM on the radio itself and paper ID label inside says serial number and 'Barrel shaped radio' with schematic, well made, probably from the late 60s, takes 4 penlight AA batteries, Virtually unused, only expected tarnishing of brass rings, actually adds to the look.
